A few words about us

The Mohave Sportsman Club was founded in 1936.  Several locations have been used in the Kingman area over the years.  The various re-locations of our facility activities were dictated by the encroachment of residential developments.

In 1969, the Mohave Sportsman Club and the Arizona Game and Fish Commission began to look for a site which would serve Mohave County Residents well into the future.  The present range site, consisting of approximately 717 acres on the Oatman Road, west of Kingman, was chosen.

This land was purchased by the Arizona Game and Fish Commission under the Recreational and Public Purposes Agreement from the Bureau of Land Management. The property was then leased to the Mohave Sportsman Club for the purpose of providing a shooting range facility.

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors agreed to make County equipment available in the construction of the range, and to provide road maintenance.  Over a period of approximately 10 years Mohave County provided the surveyors and equipment to do much of the initial construction of the rifle, pistol and trap ranges and continued to provide road maintenance until 1984.  Club members have provided much of the labor of construction and for the ongoing maintenance.  The County Arizona Game and Fish Commission continues to provide funds for range development with various grants.  Other assistance has come from; The Ford Motor Co. construction of the 1,000-yard range and the City of Kingman providing part of the funds for the new rifle range cover.  The Mohave Sportsman Club in partnership with Arizona Game and Fish Commission and other agencies and individuals continues to improve and maintain our facility for our members and guests.

We can always use your help!

Since we are an all volunteer range, we need volunteers to help with maintenance, various projects & repairs, etc. The Mohave Sportsman Club could not operate without volunteers and we truly appreciate the time our volunteers contribute.

In order to keep Mohave Sportsman Club running, we NEED members to volunteer for various needs of the club.
